The education supportive ball is a prototype to promote active participation in lectures students find unmotivating. Our teachers asked us to create a product that would activate the students during their lectures, since most of the students wouldn’t be focused on the teaching material. The ball is a platform for various games that support the subject without taking over the focus. The prototype makes use of behavioral insights of the target audience, and nudges the target audience into the right behavior.
About the project
The ball consists of a round speaker, encased with an impact-proof casing, so it can be thrown around. The ball contains buttons that can be used for interaction in the different games. The ball uses an internal system to communicate with a management system for the teacher, the teacher selects a game to support their current lesson. The games are categorized on type and usability for different applications. I created a prototype of the ball using a 3D printer and some mechanical buttons. The prototype was used for testing different games within the management system.
